Kids Care

Kids Care, a disability awareness program is now in its fourth year. Beginning at the preschool level and up to grade 5, students participate in structured activities designed to teach tolerance and acceptance of others. Kids Care involves general information programs and no individual students are singled out.

The tolerance program involves reading books to students that focus on improving children's understanding of those with special needs. Following the reading, students participate in classroom activities to reinforce lessons learned. In conjunction with the reading, a book summary and disability fact sheet is sent home with students on reading days.

With the help of volunteers, Kids Care has been able to continue to provide workshops where students particpate in hands-on activities to help them "walk in the shoes" of someone with a disability.

2016 - 2017 Hands-On Workshops

Please consider helping out at a workshop. Volunteers receive simple instructions for helping out at activity stations. As little as one hour of your time would be very helpful, and rewarding. We need help for Kindergarten, First Grade & Second Grade.
